THE MeACT 2008 One-Act Play Festival will be held in Dover-Foxcroft

<<< newly refurbished interior of the Center Theater

The MeACT Board of Directors has approved the 2008 Festival to be held at the Center Theater of the Performing Arts in Dover-Foxcroft, scheduled for Saturday (and Sunday, as needed) April 26 & 27th, 2008.

We are now soliciting groups that would like to participate! The group membership fee will also be due at that time if your group has not already sent this in for 2008. Make sure that your group posts their season on the website to take full advantage of this additional publicity point.

Membership in MeACT is $25.00 per group, with all members of that group automatically invested in MeACT.

A Festival Registration fee of $ 25.00 per groups is also assessed. These fees help defray the cost of staging the festival and maintaining the website.

Admission for 2008 will be:
Students: $10.00 all day, including workshops
All others $ 15.00 all day, including workshops

Registration is now open for the 2008 Festival. We need to have the following Information from each group by MARCH 1st in order to do the proper planning for the event.
* Show Name & Author
* Show Director
* Run Time
* Festival Registration Fee ($ 25.00) is due thereafter.
* Technical aspects of the Center Theater, rehearsal and timing, will be coordinated through technical director Ed Hills for Center Theater and Foner Curtis and Richard Bostwick for MeACT.

Maine Association of Community Theaters is a not-for-profit group of individual community theaters. Each year we sponsor a one-act play festival at a different location. Our members are independently operating Community Theater organizations frequently associated with the New England Theater Conference (NETC) and the American Association of Community Theaters (AACT).

What’s it all about?

Objectives:

* Have Fun – If we can’t do this the whole exercise is pointless.
* Have an annual scheduled event that doesn’t conflict with our seasonal productions ‘cause we’ve all included it our own schedule.
* Comradary - Get to know other Community Theater groups and their members. We, who have been participating since MeACT's inception, really enjoy getting together each year – it may be the only time we actually see each other all year.
* Share Information, Ideas and Innovations – not to mention props, costumes, scripts, techniques and training opportunities. The Festival workshops often provide a springboard for further discussion and cooperation.
* Act as an entry point for Maine Community Theater groups’ participation in AACT regional and National festivals, should they desire to do so.
